Our Story

Built on memory.
Served with pride.

"In the Old City of Hyderabad, there is a lane where the charcoal never goes cold."

Charminar Daaru Wala was born from that lane — from memories of Pathar-ka-Gosht sizzling on granite stones, of Auto-Stand Punugulu eaten standing up at midnight, of cold beer and Andhra Chilli Chicken shared after long days. Our owners carried these memories from the streets of Hyderabad, across 7,000 miles, to 856 Bristol Road, Birmingham.

The name says it all. Charminar — the monument that stands at the heart of Hyderabad's Old City, built in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. Four minarets. Four arches. A symbol of the city's soul. Daaru Wala — the one who serves the drinks. Because in Andhra and Telangana, the bar is as sacred as the kitchen.

The address — 856 — is not just a door number. It is the fourth minaret of this small monument we have built in Birmingham.

What We Stand For
01

Rooted in the Deccan

Our owners grew up in the kitchens and streets of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The food here is not interpreted — it is remembered.

02

No shortcuts

Pathar-ka-Gosht is seared on real granite over charcoal. Paya is slow-cooked for hours. We do not take the fast route on flavour.

03

Bar culture, reimagined

In Hyderabad, food and drink are inseparable. We brought that philosophy here — every dish is built to pair with your glass.

04

For the community

Birmingham has one of the most vibrant South Indian communities outside India. This place is theirs as much as it is ours.
